December 10
The Full Moon has a halo: bright and burning through a thin layer of cloud. The immediate halo ring is bright white; then a thin orange-red ring; then a wider blue ring. Later there arrives heavy cloud so now there is only the two red rings. The moon shines bright white through a crack in cloud like a mountain ravine. On the radio it is said that the moon is abnormally close and so 14% larger; the biggest moon in 15 years.
